The social sector has developed a special talent for naming fellowship programmes. Add leadership, innovation, change or emerging to almost any noun and you have something that sounds ready for a brochure.
The language reflects a genuine desire to develop young people. But when every programme uses the same vocabulary, the names begin to lose meaning.
Perhaps the more interesting question is what the fellowship actually offers. Who gets access? What work do fellows do? What support do they receive? A simple name can be perfectly good when the experience behind it is strong.
