The NGO Government Corporate Triangle

Explain the relationship between public money, private power and nonprofit work in one diagram.

Corporations generate profits and receive policy support. Some of that wealth then flows into CSR and philanthropy. NGOs use those funds to deliver programmes that can overlap with public responsibilities.

The arrangement can create useful partnerships. It can also blur accountability. If an NGO delivers a service using private money, who is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the service exists?

The triangle becomes especially interesting when nonprofit action reduces pressure on governments to provide public goods directly. Partnerships matter, but so does the question of who should be accountable to citizens.
