The Job Description Mystery
If the JD does not mention the salary, what exactly are we applying for?
A job description usually tells candidates what an organisation expects from them. It should also help candidates decide whether the opportunity works for them. Salary is a basic part of that decision.
Leaving compensation out can shift the burden onto applicants. They may spend hours applying, interviewing and completing tasks without knowing whether the role is financially viable.
Transparency is not an unreasonable demand. If organisations want professional candidates, they should treat compensation as part of professional communication. Purpose matters, but people still have bills to pay.
