Where the CSR Money Goes
The geography of philanthropy can reveal a lot about power.
The meme points to an uneven pattern in CSR funding, where organisations based in large cities can have easier access to corporate networks and funding opportunities.
Grassroots organisations working in Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal and other regions may be closer to the communities being served while remaining further away from decision-makers controlling funds.
Location should not determine whose work is considered credible. Funding systems need ways to recognise local knowledge and organisations that are rooted in the places where problems are experienced, not just the places where meetings happen.
